BETONG: A RM1.5 million slope rehabilitation project in Ajong, Padeh is set to begin soon following its approval.
Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister as well as Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the project has gone through the tender process and is now awaiting implementation.

He expressed his appreciation to the Betong Division Public Works Department (PWD) and related agencies that had conducted several site visits to assess the situation and prepare the project proposal.
“Close cooperation between the people, government agencies and contractors is crucial to ensure that every development project can be carried out smoothly and deliver maximum benefits to the residents,” he said when speaking at the Leaders with the People programme at Rumah Panjang Ajong, Padeh on Sunday (April 12).
He added that the selection of capable contractors must also be emphasised to ensure the project is completed according to schedule and meets the required specifications.
Meanwhile, Rentap also informed that the road upgrading project to Rumah Panjang Merunjau, spanning 6.9 kilometres, has been approved in phases.
Phase 1, valued at RM30 million (4.9 km), will be implemented under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), while Phase 2, valued at RM22 million (2.0 km), falls under the 13th Malaysia Plan and is currently at the design stage, with tender expected this year.
Additiionally, he said the construction of the Sungai Padeh Bridge at Sekolah Kebangsaan St Peter & St Paul has also been approved under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development Malaysia with an allocation of RM12 million.
