KUCHING: The Anglican Diocese of Kuching will ordain five new priests and a deacon during a special service at St Barnabas’ Church in Miri on Sunday (April 19).
The ordination, set for 4:00 pm, will be presided over by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kuching, the Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute.
The diocese, which covers Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam, described the occasion as a significant milestone reflecting its continued ministerial growth and renewal.
Five deacons, namely Charly Law, Nungpat Simpan, Tomity Garai Nicholas, Gandau Naga and Yeo Win Ton, will be ordained to the priesthood after completing their diaconate year.
They will now take on full priestly responsibilities in serving the pastoral, sacramental and spiritual needs of their respective parishes.
Meanwhile, Malcolm Bonnyface David Henggi will be ordained as a deacon. He recently graduated from Seminary Theology Malaysia with a Bachelor in Divinity.
All six candidates completed their ordination retreat at the Kidurong Anglican Centre from April 15 to 18 in preparation for the service.
The diocese said the ordinations reflect the continued growth of the Church in Sarawak and Brunei, and called on the faithful and wider community to keep the candidates in prayer as they commit themselves to serving God and the community.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing spiritual leadership marked by humility, integrity and service.
