KUALA NERUS: Cik Hasnul Taqiyuddin Cik Sazali from Perak won the qari (male reciter) category at the national-level 2026 Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, while Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa of Sarawak took the qariah (female reciter) title.
Each took home RM20,000 in cash and an additional RM10,000 to perform the haj pilgrimage, along with a trophy, souvenirs and a certificate of participation.
Selangor was crowned overall champion, while in the 1-30 juz hafazan (memorisation) category (male), Muhammad Izzul Afnan Sazali from the Federal Territories emerged champion, and Dina Hadfina Mohd Umarul Hisyam from Melaka won the female category.
In the 1-20 juz memorisation category (male), the title was won by Wan Syimir Muhaimin Wan Ahmad Sadaba from Pahang, while Nur Izzati Norazmi from Selangor claimed the female title.
Meanwhile, the 1-10 juz memorisation category (male) was won by Muhammad Amnan Muhammad Sani from Sabah, while Siti Sofiyyah Abu Bakar from Kelantan emerged champion in the female category.
The Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, officiated the closing ceremony and prize presentation of the assembly at the Gong Badak Indoor Stadium, Terengganu Sports Complex, tonight.
Also in attendance were his royal siblings Tengku Sri Setia Mahkota Raja Tengku Dato Seri Muhammad Mua’az and Tengku Puteri Daulath Raja Tengku Datuk Seri Fatimatuz Zahra.
