KUCHING: Business zakat amounting to RM1.86 million was handed over to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak during a meeting at Astana Negeri here today (Apr 20).
The contribution from Tabung Haji Sarawak was witnessed by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
Also presented was a flood aid contribution of RM250,000 from the Jakim-Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia Musa’adah Fund to the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS).
The presentations took place during a courtesy call by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Dr Zulkifli Hasan on Wan Junaidi.
Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, was also present.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the federal and Sarawak governments, particularly in the management of Islamic affairs, the development of religious education institutions, and the coordination of welfare programmes.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Marharyah Rosli and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi were among those in the delegation.
Also present were Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee and MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha, along with other senior officials.
Discussions during the meeting also covered the socio-economic development of the Muslim community and efforts to maintain harmony among communities.
