SARIKEI: A stash of over 5,000 litres of suspected misappropriated diesel was uncovered in a raid at Sungai Medor, Bintangor, on Wednesday (Apr 23), with total seizures valued at RM16,044.50.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said the operation followed information from the General Operations Force (GOF) Sibu, with the case later handed over under Ops Tiris 4.0.

KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin said inspections at the premises uncovered 5,030 litres of diesel believed to have been stored without valid authorisation.

“The diesel alone is estimated to be worth RM10,814.50.

“Also seized were a Toyota lorry, six intermediate bulk container (IBC) tanks, 17 plastic jerrycans, three electric pumps and eight rubber hoses measuring about 25 metres,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for possession of controlled goods under suspicious circumstances.
