KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak continues to strengthen its regional media network through a courtesy visit to MBC Media Group in Manila, the Philippines.

The delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Suhaili, was received by Assistant Vice-President of the Integrated Media Department, Vince Jaen, and also had the opportunity to meet with MBC Media Group President, Ruperto Nicdao Jr.

The visit focused on gaining insights into how established media organisations build positioning, influence and audience trust in an increasingly competitive and digital-driven communication landscape.

Through a knowledge-sharing session, the AZAM Sarawak delegation was exposed to MBC Media Group’s approaches in newsroom management, content strategy, digital transformation, and audience engagement practices.

Ali said that the ability to build influence and trust is a key element in today’s communication environment.

“In today’s landscape, media is no longer just about delivering information, but about building influence that creates meaningful impact. This visit provides AZAM with the opportunity to better understand these strategic approaches,” he said in a statement issued by AZAM today (April 29).

During the visit, AZAM Sarawak also introduced several of its communication initiatives, including the ‘Kelaka Belia’ podcast, the PROGRESS digital publication, as well as the use of AI Characters KAI and ELI as innovative channels for delivering information in a more engaging and relevant way.

Both parties also exchanged views on media trends, digital audience behaviour, content development, youth engagement, and potential future collaborations.

Meanwhile, Strategic Communication, Media and Youth Relations Manager, Mohd Hassnal Hakim Junaidi, described the visit as part of AZAM’s broader effort to expand its communication network across ASEAN.

“Following engagements in Singapore and Indonesia, AZAM sees the importance of strengthening ties with neighbouring countries such as the Philippines and Thailand to broaden our regional communication perspective and network,” he said.

He added that the exposure will further enhance AZAM’s communication products and youth development platforms, including the AYS Toastmasters Club.

The visit also coincided with an official invitation for AZAM Sarawak to attend the Toastmasters International District 75 Conference in Pampanga.
