SERIAN: A sedan sustained significant front-end damage after hitting an oil palm fruit bunch left on the road along the Pan Borneo Highway today (Aug 24).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a distress call regarding the incident along the Balai Ringin–Pantu section of the highway at 3.27 pm.
Firefighters from the Serian fire station were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at 3.51 pm.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the sedan had sustained significant front-end damage after hitting an oil palm fruit bunch.
“There were three victims involved, all of whom had already been extricated from the vehicle by members of the public,” it said.
Firefighters provided initial treatment to the victims at the scene before they were transported to medical facilities.
One victim was conveyed to the Balai Ringin Health Clinic by an ambulance, while the other two were taken to Serian Hospital using Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.
