KUCHING: Malaysian-Thai muaythai prospect Adam Rakib, also known as Adam Sor Dechapan, weathered a furious late charge to defeat 22-year-old French fighter Enzo Clarisse via unanimous decision in their strawweight bout at ONE Friday Fights 153: The Inner Circle in Bangkok, Thailand tonight.
For Adam, the victory improves the 18-year-old’s ONE Championship record to 4-1.
He controlled large stretches of the fight with sharp timing, clean kicks and relentless knees before being dragged into a final-round firefight that tested both his composure and stamina.
Adam started cautiously, trading calf kicks and jabs while reading the Frenchman’s movement. Once the distance opened up, he struck.
A clean front kick sent Clarisse crashing onto the canvas before Adam followed up with heavy knees and rapid combinations, repeatedly forcing the Frenchman onto the defensive.
Clarisse attempted to respond with counters and pressure along the ropes, but Adam’s speed often arrived first. A kick to the side of the head visibly rattled the Frenchman, though he refused to retreat.
The second round belonged largely to Adam.
He opened with a flying knee before continuing to target the body and head with sharp kicks and composed counters. Every exchange slowly chipped away at Clarisse, whose movement began fading under the accumulation of damage.
Still, the Frenchman stood firm.
The final 30 seconds changed the rhythm completely.
An overhead right briefly buzzed Adam before both fighters abandoned caution and traded heavy punches until the bell. Blow for blow. Swing for swing. Clarisse emptied whatever remained in the tank as Adam slowed under the pressure.
But the damage had already been done.
Adam’s cleaner striking, sharper reads and sustained pressure across the rounds ultimately earned the teenager a deserved unanimous decision victory.
Speaking after the fight, Adam remained grounded despite the win.
“Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah for this opportunity. Thank you to my family, my coaches and everyone here with me,” he said.
“I’m happy to share the ring with the Frenchman, although my stamina was a bit lacking.”
When asked about future opponents, Adam welcomed any challenge ahead.
He is also the younger brother of fellow ONE Championship fighter Aliff Rakib.
Earlier, fellow Malaysian fighter Rifdean “Magic Boy” Masdor also emerged victorious after defeating Laotian fighter Petkiattisak Aor.Saensue via unanimous decision.
