BAU: Two men, including a teenager, were arrested after police found several weapons inside a car during a crime prevention patrol in Siniawan on Friday (May 8).
The suspects, aged 36 and 17, were detained at about 11.30 am by a team from the Siniawan police station along Jalan Kampung Bunga Rampai.
Bau police chief, Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said officers became suspicious of a Proton Saga parked by the roadside with two men inside.
“Checks on the vehicle led to the discovery of a machete and a metal pipe hidden beneath the driver’s seat, while a modified sickle was found in the boot,” he said.
Both suspects were arrested at the scene, along with the vehicle, for further investigation. Police also found that the older suspect has prior records related to drug offences.
The case is being investigated under Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
Both individuals are expected to be remanded to assist in the investigation and will undergo urine screening.
