BINTULU: A total of 47 Indonesian nationals, including three girls, were detained during a two-day immigration enforcement operation conducted across Bintulu and Samalaju from May 6 to 7.
A total of 59 individuals were screened during the operation.
Those detained comprised 40 men and four women, believed to have committed offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The operation was carried out by the Sarawak Immigration Department’s Bintulu division with assistance from Marine Police Region 5.
Six locations were inspected, including workers’ quarters, residential houses, flats and business premises.
Among the offences detected were overstaying and not possessing valid travel documents under Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1)(c) of the Act.
