SARAWAK has remained economically stable despite growing global uncertainties caused by geopolitical tensions, shifting economic conditions and international conflicts that continue to disrupt global markets and supply chains.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the impact of uncertainty has also been felt by the people through rising living costs, food prices and transportation expenses.

Even household finances are coming under increasing pressure as many countries continue to face more complex economic challenges.

“Sarawak has managed to maintain stability through prudent financial management, clear development policies and efficient administration.

“The proactive measures implemented by the state government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg are highly commended.

“They have helped ease the people’s burden through various forms of assistance and programmes that directly benefit the community,” he said in his opening speech when officiating at the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) at the DUN complex today.

Wan Junaidi said stronger cooperation among all parties remains crucial in facing continuing global challenges, improving productivity and accelerate efforts to build a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable economy.

He added the wellbeing of the people must always remain a priority so that no group is left behind in the state’s development.
