BAU: Two labourers with prior drug-related records were arrested after testing positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine yesterday (May 13).

They were detained under ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ by personnel from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) together with members of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspects, aged 33 and 45, underwent urine screening tests at Bau NCID office at around 5.20pm.

“Initial urine screening tests conducted on both suspects found them positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

“Following the screening, both men were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

Background checks found that they had prior records under the same section.

Mohd Haide said that during initial questioning, the suspects admitted to abusing syabu two days before their arrest.

The suspects are currently held at Bau police lock-up pending further investigation.
