KOTA SAMARAHAN: Entrepreneurs are encouraged to be more proactive in leveraging digital technology and social media platforms to expand their businesses and improve their family income.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang said the use of platforms such as Facebook, TikTok and online sales channels could help local entrepreneurs widen their product market while enhancing their competitiveness in today’s economy.
According to her, many successful entrepreneurs started small before growing into established business owners through perseverance, business knowledge and the wise use of current technology.
“Do not be embarrassed to start small because great success begins with the first step. What matters most is the determination to keep learning and striving,” she said in an UKAS report when officiating at the Gema Suara Gawai Samarahan 2026 programme held at The Summer Shopping Mall recently.
Rubiah, who is also Kota Samarahan MP, called on Sarawak’s multi-racial communities to continue preserving the spirit of unity and harmony, which remains one of the state’s greatest strengths.
She said celebrations such as Gawai are not merely cultural and entertainment events, but also serve as an important platform for strengthening ties and fostering mutual respect among Sarawak’s diverse communities and religions.
“The uniqueness of Sarawak lies in its people, who continue to live harmoniously despite differences in race, religion and culture. This value must be preserved for the wellbeing of all,” she added.
