KUCHING: The Kuching City FC faithful turned up on the night that mattered most.

The Cats’ 1-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur City FC not only secured second place in the league with 53 points, but also confirmed the club’s first-ever qualification for the AFC Champions League Two.
Last week, chief executive officer Iswandi Ali Hassan had urged supporters to recreate the electric atmosphere that has become synonymous with the club’s biggest home matches.
And the fans responded in full force.
The atmosphere inside Stadium Negeri in Petra Jaya was electric, with the pounding drums from the “Stand of Unity” echoing throughout the stadium as supporters roared the team on from start to finish.

For many fans, young and old alike, it was a night that will live long in memory.
Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak paid tribute to the supporters after the match, thanking them for backing the team throughout the campaign.
“Credit goes to the players first and I want to say thank you also to the fans for today.
“They always cheer(ed), the family of the players. We knew what we wanted today,” he told at the post-match press conference last night (May 17).
After the final whistle, the crowd erupted as Aidil’s men, together with the coaching and backroom staff, made their way to the “Stand of Unity” to applaud supporters for their backing throughout the season.
The team later completed a lap around the stadium to thank fans who had travelled from near and far to witness the historic moment.
