Twelve industrial land applications from companies operating in Pending have been approved since 2020.
Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan disclosed that 14 applications had been received from companies operating in the Pending area for industrial land in other industrial parks, including Demak Laut Industrial Park.
“Of the total, 12 applications had been approved by the State Planning Authority, while two others were still under consideration,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech and in response to the issue raised by the Pending assemblyman in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.
He assured that the ministry would continue to communicate, monitor and hold engagement sessions with industry players in the area from time to time.
“The government recognised the role of industry players in the area, who had contributed significantly to economic growth, job opportunities and development in Kuching and Sarawak.”
On Bukit Assek, he said the Bukit Assek Redevelopment Master Plan had been drafted based on several engagement sessions with stakeholders.
“These included community leaders, Ketua Masyarakat and Ketua Kaum, relevant agencies and departments, private consultants, and several elected representatives in the Sibu area, including the assemblyman for Bukit Assek.”
He said the master plan was also prepared based on technical input obtained through a comprehensive study carried out by appointed private consultants.
He added that the implementation of the Bukit Assek redevelopment project would be carried out in phases.
“Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, the project will only involve the construction of Wetland 1 and other components such as land acquisition and basic infrastructure, subject to approved allocation.
“The Land Custody and Development Authority will continue to hold engagement sessions with the parties involved to ensure the project could be implemented in an orderly and smooth manner.”
Meanwhile, responding to another issue by Ngemah assemblyman, Awang Tengah said the Local Plan for the Nanga Ngungun Resettlement Scheme Extension had been approved by the State Planning Authority.
“The proposed components include 27 longhouse blocks providing 280 doors, an industrial village area, commercial area, guest area, government reserve, church site and community hall site.”
For Nanga Jagau and Nanga Tada, including Nanga Sekuau, he said the Land and Survey Department would prepare a local plan by taking into account existing longhouse settlements, infrastructure needs and basic facilities, including areas for the village expansion scheme.
“The approved local plan would be used as a guide to plan government development proposed by government agencies, including the Mid-Rajang Regional Development Agency.”
On Serian, he said the redevelopment application for the burnt shop block had been approved.
“For Murum, the proposed resettlement arrangement at BRS Sungai Asap through SPS Komuniti Islam Sungai Koyan, SPS Sungai Koyan 1 and SPS Sungai Koyan 2 in Belaga, Kapit, had been proposed for consideration in the mid-term review of the 13th Malaysia Plan.”
