KUCHING: Demanlink is set to expand Sarawak connectivity with up to RM10 million in additional backing from EdgePoint.

Demanlink Connexion Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Hanad Yusuf said the Sarawak-based telecommunications infrastructure company had reaffirmed its partnership with EdgePoint Infrastructure to support the continued expansion of digital connectivity infrastructure across the state.

He said the additional backing would support the company’s immediate pipeline of connectivity initiatives in Sarawak.

According to him, the investment is expected to strengthen Demanlink’s ability to deliver larger and customised telecommunications infrastructure solutions more quickly.

The partnership, he added, also gives the company access to EdgePoint’s regional experience and operational support, while retaining its local team’s understanding of Sarawak’s connectivity, geographic and community needs.

“Our partnership with EdgePoint has been pivotal in our efforts to deploy innovative, tailored connectivity infrastructure in support of Sarawak’s digital aspirations.

“EdgePoint’s long-term commitment and continued investment reinforces our belief in the growth potential of the state and Demanlink’s commitment to support our client’s connectivity goals,” he said.

EdgePoint Infrastructure chief executive officer and founder Suresh Sidhu said the partnership with Demanlink supported the company’s wider regional connectivity plans.

“Our partnership with Demanlink builds on our mission to build a robust, digitally connected ASEAN and enhance regional integration.

“We will continue to support Demanlink in their efforts to deliver meaningful connectivity to Sarawak’s diverse communities, together with local stakeholders and the state authorities.

“Since 2024, we have partnered with Demanlink and have made significant investments to support various connectivity infrastructure initiatives across Sarawak.

“We look forward to continuing working with Demanlink in the coming years,” he said.

Since 2024, the partnership has supported several connectivity projects in Sarawak.

These include Sarawak’s first 5G telecommunications smart pole in Taman Impiana, Siburan, Demanlink’s maiden built-to-suit site in Kampung Jepak, Bintulu, and in-building coverage solutions such as at One Shell Square in Miri.

The two companies have also worked together on EdgePoint’s Connectivity for Communities programme, which aims to support underserved schools and communities across ASEAN with digital resources and connectivity.

Two digital classrooms in schools in Long Miri and Simunjan have been launched to date.
