SERIAN: A 34-year-old civil servant was arrested here after police seized 1.478kg of suspected cannabis, believed intended for distribution in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian.
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said the suspect was detained by the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) on Wednesday (May 20).
He said investigations found the drug supply was believed to have been obtained through the Telegram application.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39B (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement today (May 23).
Freddy urged members of the public with information related to drug activities to channel information to the police to help curb drug abuse in the community.
