SARIKEI: A man was found dead after collapsing at a food premises at the Souk Hua Open Air Market along Jalan Merdeka here on Friday (May 22).
Sarikei police chief Supt Aswandy Anis said initial investigations found the man had been resting at the premises and was believed to have fallen asleep at about 4 am.
“According to the shop owner, the man suddenly fell from the chair he was sitting on before medical personnel were contacted. Medical personnel later confirmed the man had died,” he said.
Aswandy said initial investigations found no criminal elements in the case, which has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).
The body was taken to Sarikei Hospital for post-mortem and further investigation.
He also advised the public against making speculation that could interfere with police investigations.
