ISKANDAR PUTERI, Johor: Former Bersatu Supreme Council member, Tan Sri Noh Omar, on Sunday announced that he has relinquished his position in the party and rejoined UMNO and the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

He said the move nullified his Bersatu membership and that he would no longer need to submit any official letter to the party leadership.

According to Noh, he was open to rejoining UMNO after noting Johor UMNO’s firm stance on contesting on its own, as emphasised by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, in his speech.

“I have great respect for the leadership and principles of Johor UMNO,” he said after the launch of the Johor BN election machinery at the Educity Sports Complex here on Sunday.

The event, officiated by BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was also attended by Onn Hafiz as Johor BN Chairman, MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC President Tan Sri Dr SA Vigneswaran, and People’s Progressive Party (PPP) President Datuk Dr J Loga Balan Mohan.

Noh, a former Selangor UMNO state liaison chief who was sacked from UMNO in 2023 following a violation of party discipline during the 15th Genera Election, confirmed he had joined Bersatu in July 2024. – BERNAMA
