PADAWAN: A policeman was injured after slipping and falling about six metres down a hillside during a community programme in Kampung Sapit here today (June 20).

The 43-year-old sustained injuries to his back, head and hands in the incident.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Siburan station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12:20 pm.

“The victim was given initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team before being fitted with a cervical collar, upper limb splint, and spinal board.

“The rescue team then carried the victim down the hill using a multifunction stretcher designed by Bomba personnel,” a Bomba spokesperson said.

Upon reaching the foot of the hill, the victim was transported by EMRS personnel to the Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

The operation, involving six firefighters, was completed at 3:03 pm.
