SARIKEI: Residents of Muara Payang and Parit Bugis are expected to enjoy a more comprehensive land transportation network when the road and bridge projects planned are fully completed by 2030.

Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the RM65 million road project linking Bukit Huang/Parit Bugis to Muara Payang is currently being implemented under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).

He said the road will be extended directly to the Samaring area within the Semop constituency, creating a more integrated transportation network connecting communities across the Rajang Delta.

“To complete this transportation system, a bridge spanning the Batang Rajang, estimated to cost RM300 million, will also be constructed.

“The project was, in principle, approved by the Premier during the opening ceremony of the Tuanku Haji Bujang Bridge in Pasi last year,” he said during the Ngiling Bidai programme held at SK Muara Payang recently.

Len, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said that improved transportation infrastructure would not only enhance the convenience of residents but is also expected to stimulate local economic activities, particularly in the agricultural sector, which has significant potential in the area.

He said the implementation of these projects demonstrates the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to delivering development and improving essential infrastructure to enhance the quality of life of the people in Muara Payang and its surrounding areas.
