KUCHING: Pullman Kuching has officially unveiled Nu Er Hong, its newly transformed signature Chinese halal restaurant, marking a new chapter for one of the city’s most recognised dining establishments and strengthening Sarawak’s growing premium hospitality and business events landscape.

The grand relaunch was officiated by Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee alongside Datin Lau Ngok Yung, Interhill Group executive chairman Albert Hu, managing director Sunardi Song and executive director Rogina Hu.

Now open to the public, Nu Er Hong introduces a refined halal-certified Chinese fine dining experience inspired by the coastal culinary traditions of Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong, while embracing a deeper philosophy centred on family, celebration and meaningful connections.

More than a restaurant, Nu Er Hong is built around the idea of a ‘House of Harmony’ and a ‘Table for Milestones’, a place where life’s most treasured moments are celebrated with intention.

Its name draws inspiration from a centuries-old Chinese tradition in which wine is sealed at the birth of a daughter and opened on her wedding day. The ritual symbolises patience, trust, gratitude and the belief that life’s most meaningful moments are worth waiting for.

Those values now form the heart of the restaurant’s identity.

“As Sarawak continues to grow as a destination for tourism, business events, and cultural exchange, we believe dining plays an important role in shaping that journey. As Malaysia welcomes Visit Malaysia Year 2026, we look forward to showcasing not only exceptional cuisine, but also the warmth, inclusivity, and generosity that Sarawak is known for.

“With Nu Er Hong, we are not just opening a restaurant. We are making a statement about what Sarawak can offer to the world.

“This is a place where global sophistication meets local heritage, where halal integrity meets coastal Chinese artistry, and where every meal becomes a milestone. As Sarawak continues to grow as a premier destination for business and leisure, Nu Er Hong stands ready to welcome the world to our table, a House of Harmony and a Table for Milestones,” said Pullman Kuching general manager, Sunardi Song.

Designed as a destination for corporate banquets, weddings, family celebrations and private gatherings, Nu Er Hong offers a collection of distinctive private dining rooms, each crafted with its thoughtfully crafted names such as Fragrance (Xiang), Bliss (Kui), Elegant (Ya), Strong (Nong), Clear (Qing) and Pure (Chun), to suit different occasions, apart from the main hall of the restaurant.

Rather than simply providing private spaces, the restaurant aims to create settings where memories are made, relationships strengthened and milestones celebrated.

The design journey takes inspiration from the historic Maritime Silk Road, blending elegant references to Fujian craftsmanship, Longjing tea hues and maritime motifs that reflect centuries of cultural exchange across Asia.

The result is a sophisticated yet welcoming environment where intimate celebrations coexist with grand occasions.

Under the culinary direction of Chef Charles, guests can expect a menu rooted in traditional techniques while fully adhering to halal standards.

Among the signature dishes showcased during the launch were the Nu Er Hong Roasted Duck, presented through an interactive live-carving station, Fujian Braised Two-Headed Supreme Abalone with King Oyster Sauce, and the Baked Char Siu Cod Fish.

The official relaunch celebration on Sunday featured a traditional lion dance performance, live entertainment by Diana Liu and the Oriental Traditional Orchestra Kuching, private dining room tours, a kung-fu tea ceremony and the symbolic First Pour Ritual, an alcohol-free ceremonial tribute honouring the restaurant’s 16-year journey and renewed commitment to celebrating life’s milestones.

With its unique positioning as a halal-certified Chinese fine dining destination within one of Sarawak’s leading hotels, Nu Er Hong also strengthens Pullman Kuching’s appeal to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) market.

Business travellers, conference organisers and wedding planners can now enjoy world-class banqueting facilities, premium hospitality and heritage-inspired dining experiences all under one roof.

Whether it is a corporate dinner, wedding reception, family reunion, anniversary celebration or simply an indulgent dining experience, Nu Er Hong invites guests to gather around a table where tradition, culture and hospitality come together.
