GPS MPs, senators align on agenda

KUALA LUMPUR: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg chaired a meeting with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Members of Parliament and Senators here on Monday (Jun 22), ahead of the commencement of the latest parliamentary sitting.

According to Sarawakku in its Facebook posting, the meeting focused on current issues relating to Sarawak’s development, the implementation of strategic projects, as well as efforts to safeguard and advance the state’s rights and interests at the federal level.

The meeting also served as an important platform to coordinate GPS’ position and strategies in strengthening Sarawak’s voice at the national level.

Abang Johari stressed the importance of cooperation, unity and continued commitment among GPS elected representatives to ensure the state’s development agenda is implemented effectively for the benefit of the people.

The meeting was held in conjunction with the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, which runs from Jun 22 to Jul 16, spanning 16 sitting days.

Meanwhile, the Senate is scheduled to convene from Jul 20 to Aug 4 for a total of 10 sitting days.

The previous Dewan Rakyat sitting concluded on Mar 3 after a 20-day session.
