SERIAN: A three-day narcotics operation ended with seven arrests, including two suspects allegedly caught with drugs as police intensified efforts to curb drug-related activities in the district.

The arrests were made during ‘Ops Tapis Khas’, which was conducted from Jun 28 to 30 by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) with assistance by personnel from the district police headquarters (IPD).
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said a man and a woman, both locals, were arrested for alleged possession of drugs in separate raids in town
Police also seized three Erimin 5 pills and 0.7g of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Both suspects, who tested positive for drugs, are being investigated under Section 12(3) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, five other individuals were picked up for alleged drug abuse following operations in Kampung Balai Ringin, Kampung Lebor and Kampung Rimba Padi.
They are being probed under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug consumption offences.
Freddy said police would continue to step up enforcement against drug-related activities and warned that stern action would be taken against anyone involved in drug offences, with repeat offenders facing heavier penalties under the law.
Members of the public are urged to provide information on drug abuse and trafficking activities in Serian to the police.
