KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for AirBorneo’s first flights to destinations outside Sarawak have entered the final phase, with various agencies intensifying coordination to ensure smooth operations and the successful execution of the milestone.

In a statement, AirBorneo said a coordination meeting and site inspection were conducted to review technical, logistical, security and protocol arrangements, including contingency plans and the movement of distinguished guests.

The meeting was chaired by Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit (UPPAN) director Datuk Hamdan Sharbini.

AirBorneo said the integrated coordination reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to ensuring every aspect of the event is managed to the highest standards for the smooth operation of the airline’s inaugural flight.

“The briefing and site visit focused on comprehensive coordination involving contingency plans, security measures, VIP protocol arrangements and technical aspects related to the inaugural flight,” it said.

It added that the exercise also ensures all participating agencies are fully prepared to facilitate both the flight operations and the accompanying official ceremony.

The close collaboration between UPPAN, federal agencies and aviation industry stakeholders underscores their shared commitment to successfully launching AirBorneo as Sarawak’s state-owned airline.

AirBorneo added that the extensive coordination reflects Sarawak’s readiness to mark another milestone in its aviation sector, with the airline set to commence services to destinations beyond the state, further strengthening air connectivity while supporting Sarawak’s economic development and tourism agenda.
