SONG: A journey from Kapit to Song ended in tragedy when a local man was killed after the car he was driving skidded and crashed along Jalan Engkabau (Jalan Song-Kapit) yesterday (Jul 7).
Song police chief DSP Benedict Faris Jimoy said preliminary investigations indicated the 24-year-old lost control of his Perodua Bezza, causing it to veer onto the right side before crashing.
“The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His body has been taken to Kapit Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” he said.
Benedict added that a 40-year-old man, who is a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries.
He was taken to Song Health Clinic for emergency treatment before being referred to hospital for further medical attention.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In light of this, motorists are urged to comply with traffic regulations, ensure they hold a valid driving licence, wear seat belts at all times, drive responsibly and observe the stipulated speed limits to prevent accidents.
