KUCHING: The Kuching Festival Fair 2026 has gained nationwide exposure through the launch of a limited-edition Pepsi can, marking the first time the annual celebration is featured on a specially designed beverage can distributed across Malaysia.

The collaboration between Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Pepsi highlights the city’s rich cultural identity and culinary heritage while promoting the festival to consumers nationwide through an internationally recognised brand.

MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said that the initiative represents more than a marketing campaign, but a meaningful platform to showcase Kuching’s unique identity.

“This limited edition can is much more than a beverage. It is a celebration of Kuching’s identity, culture and vibrant gastronomy, with every can serving as an ambassador for our city across Malaysia,” he said in a press conference yesterday (July 13).

He added that the partnership complements Kuching’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, reinforcing ongoing efforts to position the city as a world-class destination for culinary tourism, innovation and cultural experiences.

The Kuching Festival Fair 2026 will run from July 22 to Aug 16, featuring more than 300 food stalls, 97 indoor trade exhibition booths, 29 amusement and game stalls, nightly stage performances and the popular Garden Show.

Wee said the festival has evolved into one of Malaysia’s largest community celebrations, providing valuable opportunities for local entrepreneurs, food innovators and artisans to showcase products, introduce new ideas and engage hundreds of thousands of visitors.

“Pepsi is returning as the festival’s main sponsor for the second consecutive year, contributing RM60,000 in cash alongside in-kind sponsorship including 30 festival sun tents, exclusive limited-edition cans, co-branded promotional materials, digital marketing support through key opinion leaders and products for festival activities,”he said.

Expressing appreciation for the continued collaboration, Wee said MBKS values Pepsi’s confidence in the Kuching Festival and looks forward to strengthening the partnership in the coming years while inviting the public to experience the festival’s food, exhibitions and entertainment with family and friends.
