BRUNEI: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday (July 14) to attend a series of official events in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
Wan Junaidi, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, arrived at 12.10 pm after departing from the Hornbill Skyways Terminal in Kuching.
Also accompanying the delegation was Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud.
Upon arrival, Wan Junaidi was received by Brunei’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of Defence II and Coordinating Minister for National Security Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Halbi Md Yussof, along with senior government officials and security personnel.
He was accorded the honour of inspecting the Royal Brunei Guard of Honour before proceeding to his official accommodation.
Wan Junaidi’s visit is at the invitation of the Brunei government and reflects the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.
