KUCHING: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) is stepping up efforts to support two families whose home was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Bratan, Jalan Puncak Borneo, by coordinating assistance and planning a community clean up to aid their recovery.

DBNA vice president Bronnie Marshall Dr Benedict Poris, together with representatives from DBNA Penrissen Branch led by its chairman Major Kencha Dewok and two committee members, as well as Village chief KK Jafar Rabor, visited the affected families on Sunday (Jul 12) to hand over contributions as a gesture of support.

Besides delivering aid, the group discussed plans to organise a gotong royong to clear the site of the burnt house, paving the way for recovery and rebuilding efforts.

The clean up programme is expected to involve the Kampung Bratan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), DBNA Penrissen Branch, Persatuan Segu Bunuk Penrissen (PSBP), as well as several non governmental organisations.

The fire, which occurred on Jun 20, destroyed a house occupied by two families.

DBNA expressed its appreciation to all individuals and organisations that have extended assistance to the affected families.

The association said every contribution, regardless of size, would help ease the burden faced by the victims while reflecting the community’s spirit of compassion, unity and cooperation.
