KUCHING: Fresh from her award-winning performance at Carnegie Hall, Sarawak’s young vocalist Taylor Louise has been honoured with a special invitation by the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York in recognition of her success on the international stage.
The 12-year-old paid a courtesy call on Malaysia’s Consul General in New York, Norhalilah Jalil, at the Consulate General on Monday (July 14), following her triumph at the 2026 New York International Golden Classical Music Awards.
Taylor recently won First Prize in the Age 10–12 Vocal Category and was also presented with the Excellence Young Talent Special Prize at the international competition.

During the meeting, Norhalilah congratulated Taylor on her outstanding achievement and commended her for bringing pride to both Sarawak and Malaysia on the international stage.
She also took time to learn about Taylor’s musical journey, encouraging the young singer to remain resilient, humble and passionate in pursuing her dreams.
As part of the visit, Taylor performed the same song that earned her first prize at Carnegie Hall, giving the Consul General an opportunity to witness her award-winning performance.
Norhalilah praised Taylor’s vocal talent and wished her continued success in her musical journey.
Taylor also signed the Consulate General’s guest book and shared her competition trophy and award certificates.
“It was such an honour to meet the Consul General of Malaysia in New York.
“I am truly grateful for her kindness, encouragement and inspiring advice. Her words have given me even more motivation to work hard, stay strong and never give up on my dreams,” she said.
Taylor also expressed admiration for Norhalilah as Malaysia’s first female Consul General in New York, saying the meeting inspired her to believe that perseverance and passion can lead to success.
She also thanked the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York for the warm hospitality extended to her and her family during the visit.
