SIBU: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has arrived here for the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration.
Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, arrived at Sibu Airport at 11.45 am today (July 21) and were accompanied by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and his wife, Datin Seri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.
They were welcomed upon arrival by Minister of Transport and Minister-in-Charge of Sarawak Day 2026 celebration Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin and his wife Datin Seri Kong Shui Lin; Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and his wife; Temenggong Datuk Seri Wan Hamid Edruce Tuanku Haji Mohammad; Sibu Resident Superi Awang Said and others.
Upon arrival, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also joined in a prayer session led by Ustaz Azhar Hipni, Islamic Affairs Officer of the Sibu Division branch of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
The official visit to Sibu is held in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, a historic and meaningful occasion observed by people across the state.
Wan Junaidi expressed hope that all programmes planned for the celebration would run smoothly and successfully, while fostering greater love, pride and patriotism among Sarawakians.
