KUCHING: The winners of UKAS TikTok Challenge 2.0 were announced today, recognising Sarawakians who showcased inspiring local stories and the state’s identity through creative digital content on TikTok.
Held in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, the competition carried the theme ‘Inspirasi Anak Sarawak’ and attracted entries from across the state.
Organised by Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawak (UKAS) in collaboration with Koperasi Pro Belia Inovatif Sarawak Berhad (KOBIS), the competition was supported by Sarawak Energy Berhad, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, and Affin Bank Berhad as strategic partners.
UKAS Director, Datuk Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, said the initiative aimed not only to identify the best videos but also to encourage the production of positive, high-quality digital content.
“Social media is no longer merely a space for entertainment. It has become a highly influential platform for communication, education, promotion and the dissemination of information,” he said during the prize-giving ceremony at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak today.
He also said platforms, such as TikTok, enable messages to be shared creatively while reaching millions of viewers, particularly younger audiences.

The ‘Inspirasi Anak Sarawak’ theme encouraged participants to share stories of achievement, unity, cultural heritage, innovation, entrepreneurship and love for the state, reflecting UKAS’ belief that every Sarawakian has an inspiring story to tell.
The campaign recorded an outreach of 603,994 and 14,412 engagements across social media platforms. Of the 284 individuals who expressed interest, 195 registered, resulting in 128 video submissions.
Following the screening process, 117 entries qualified for judging, comprising 73 in the Open Category (Public) and 44 in the Open Category (Student).
Compared with last year’s 52 entries, this year’s competition recorded 128 submissions, an increase of 76 entries or 146 per cent, reflecting growing interest among Sarawakians, particularly youths.
Awang Putrayusrie said many of the submissions not only demonstrated creativity and technical ability but also conveyed meaningful messages that resonated with the community, showing that young Sarawakians are capable of using social media responsibly to spread positive values.
Prizes were presented to winners in both categories during the ceremony, which also recognised the judging panel and strategic partners.
UKAS hopes the annual challenge will continue to nurture local content creators and bring inspiring Sarawakian stories to wider audiences through digital platforms.
