SIBU: Construction of the Jalan Teku/Jalan Teku Pasai Siong–Kemuyang road is progressing ahead of schedule, with the strategic infrastructure project expected to be completed by September 2027.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the project would strengthen road connectivity in the Sibu Division, reduce travel time, improve road safety and spur socio-economic development in the surrounding areas.
“The new road would also provide a more efficient alternative route linking Teku, Pasai Siong and Kemuyang,” he said during an official visit to the project site recently, where he inspected the progress of the ongoing construction works.
He was briefed on the current status of the project, construction progress, implementation challenges and measures taken to ensure the works remain on track for completion.
The delegation also inspected several key construction locations to assess progress on the ground.
He describd the road as one of the Sarawak government’s strategic infrastructure projects that would enhance transportation links in the Sibu Division while supporting the state’s long-term development agenda.
He also expressed appreciation to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), consultants and the contractor for their commitment to ensuring the project progresses smoothly.
At the same time, he reminded all parties to continue maintaining high construction quality standards, comply with technical specifications, prioritise safety at the construction site and ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
