BAU: A long-serving teacher was found unconscious in the female teachers’ restroom at SMK Bau this morning after she failed to turn up for her scheduled class.

The 55-year-old, identified as Wong Lee Choo, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Bau Hospital.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said police received a report at around 8.50 am that a woman had collapsed inside the school along Jalan Sebuku.

He said Wong, a Science and Biology teacher, had been serving at SMK Bau for about 25 years.

“Her colleague told police she last saw Wong at around 8.15am in the school’s staff room, where Wong said she was heading to the restroom.

“About 20 minutes later, another teacher informed that Wong had yet to show up for her scheduled lesson.

“The colleague then went to the female teachers’ restroom, where she found the cubicle door closed. After opening it, she discovered Wong lying unconscious on the floor and immediately contacted emergency services,” he said.

Police found no injuries or evidence of foul play during an initial examination of the body.

Wong’s body was taken to Bau Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Mohd Haide said the case has been classified as a sudden death.
