KUCHING: A 20-year-old motorcyclist died in hospital after his motorcycle collided with a lorry at the Jalan Setia Raja roundabout near One TJ on Friday (Aug 7).
Kuching Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened around 6.20 am and involved a Nissan rigid lorry and a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle.
Initial investigations found that the lorry was travelling from Muara Tabuan towards Bau and was already moving within the roundabout when the motorcycle entered it.
“The motorcycle collided with the left side of the lorry while the rider was entering the roundabout.
“The local man suffered severe injuries to his hip and was taken to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment,” he said.
Alexson said the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital’s Red Zone at 10.31 am while receiving treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
