MIRI: The Brunei Coffee Trail 2026 and Visit Brunei 2027 roadshow are strengthening cross-border tourism ties between Brunei Darussalam and Sarawak.
Pujut assemblyman and Miri Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang, said the programme does not only promote Brunei’s coffee culture but also reinforces the longstanding ties between Miri and Brunei.
“We welcome the Brunei Coffee Trail in Miri as it not only introduces unique Brunei products to the local community, but also further strengthens the close ties that have existed between Miri and Brunei for many years,” he told the media after officiating the programme at Bintang Megamall on Friday (Aug 7).
Yii said Bruneians had consistently supported various events held in Miri and hoped Miri residents would reciprocate by visiting Brunei, particularly during Visit Brunei 2027.
Meanwhile, Acting Director of Brunei’s Tourism Development Department, Salinah Mohd Salleh, said the programme was held in conjunction with Visit Brunei 2027, which will coincide with the 60th birthday celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
She said the programme, themed ‘Sip, Savor and Discover’, showcased Brunei’s coffee and matcha culture through the participation of five local brands and various tourism industry players.
The programme, running until August 9, features coffee and matcha tasting sessions, coffee preparation demonstrations, and promotions of Brunei tourism destinations to visitors from Sarawak.
