BAU: Five residents escaped unharmed after a two-storey semi-permanent house caught fire this afternoon.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said they received an alert about a house on fire at 12:49 pm located near Dewan Dayak Baru, Jalan Emas, here.
Firefighters from Bau fire station were deployed to the scene and arrived at the location at 12:54 pm about four kilometres from the station.
“The operations commander reported that the fire involved the upper floor of the house and destroyed about 70 per cent of the structure.
“Firefighters promptly act to put out the fire and brought the flame under control at 1:15 pm. Overhaul operations were subsequently carried out to ensure there were no remaining sources of ignition at the scene,” it said.
All five occupants were reported safe and did not sustain any injuries. The operations ended at 1:46 pm after firefighters ensured the area was safe.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation by BOMBA.
