KUCHING: An entertainment centre manager found himself in police custody after the premises was raided for allegedly operating without a valid licence along Jalan Canna here.
The operation was carried out by a team from the district police’s D7 unit at around 10.50 pm on Friday (Aug 14).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the 49-year-old local man was arrested after he failed to produce the required permit and was found to be conducting entertainment activities without a valid licence.
Also seized in the raid were musical equipment belonging to the premises.
Following this, he assured that police would continue conducting monitoring and enforcement operations on entertainment centres from time to time.
This is to ensure entertainment centre operators complied with regulations set by the authorities.
He also advised all operators in the district to obtain valid public entertainment licences and refrain from conducting activities beyond the permitted operating hours.
