BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is among the leaders accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam here on Saturday.

The consultation, involving Anwar and Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, will be held at Istana Nurul Iman as part of the Prime Minister’s working visit to Brunei on August 21 and 22.

Abang Johari arrived in Brunei at 4:54 pm on Friday and was welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, together with the Sarawak delegation.

Also accompanying the Prime Minister are Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan, as well as several ministers and senior government officials.

The visit is expected to provide an avenue for Sarawak to explore potential cooperation with Brunei in key sectors, including energy, renewable energy, economy, agriculture and tourism.

Sarawak-Brunei cooperation in the energy sector continues to expand through efforts by Sarawak Energy and the Brunei Department of Electrical Services on the Tudan-Lumut interconnection project (SPARK).

Trade and tourism ties have also been strengthened through the establishment of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Brunei (STATOB) in October 2024.

ALC-27 serves as the highest-level platform for Malaysia and Brunei to discuss developments in bilateral relations and cooperation, including areas of mutual interest.
