MIRI: Young pupils at Tadika Sri Mawar have been turning discarded and reusable materials into colourful creations as part of the school’s Environmental Week 2026.
Held under the theme ‘Be Green, Be Kind’, the programme was aimed at helping children develop environmental awareness and understand how simple everyday habits can contribute to a more sustainable environment.
The highlight was the school’s Eco Fashion Show – Best Out of Waste 5.0, where pupils took to the stage in costumes made from recycled and reusable materials.
Beyond the colourful designs, the initiative gave the children an opportunity to learn about reusing materials while expressing their creativity and developing an appreciation for caring for the environment.
Zoey Houng emerged as the overall winner, followed by Rizqaa Adreena Yong in second place and Ifza Iqbal in third.
The environmental message was also extended to the children’s families through a Parent-Child Eco-Friendly Chair Project, which challenged parents and pupils to work together to transform recycled household materials into functional and creative chair designs.
Headmistress Miss Evelyn Woodford thanked parents for their enthusiastic participation and support throughout the week.
The school also expressed its appreciation to co-sponsor and partner Mr Iqbal Abdollah for his contribution towards the programme.
Through Environmental Week, Tadika Sri Mawar hopes to encourage children to recognise that environmental responsibility can begin with small, practical actions, helping to build a cleaner, greener and kinder environment.
