SONG: A RM4 million Jungle Produce Market is taking shape here, offering rural traders a more organised platform to sell agricultural produce, jungle produce and other local products.

Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the development would give small traders and entrepreneurs better facilities while helping them expand their markets and increase household incomes.

“With better facilities in place, I hope small traders and entrepreneurs from rural areas will have a more conducive platform to market their produce, thereby helping to increase household incomes and stimulate the local economy.

“The development in Song must continue to progress alongside other areas,” he said in a social media post today (Aug 22).

Together with projects such as Dataran Buah Dabai and the development of the Song Riverfront, he said the Jungle Produce Market would form part of efforts to beautify Song town, improve facilities for the people and create more economic activities.

Earlier, the Works Minister officiated the Student Incentive Presentation Ceremony at the Song Community Hall together with Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan.

A total of 100 students received incentives amounting to RM50,000, with RM25,000 each contributed by Nanta and Lidam.

Nanta also visited another project site at Kampung Gelam to inspect the progress of the Riverbank Erosion Protection project along the Batang Rajang River.

“As of today, work at the site is progressing actively to address the long-standing riverbank erosion issue, which has posed risks to nearby residential areas and public facilities.

“The safety and well-being of the people remain among my top priorities.

“Therefore, the implementation of this project is important to strengthen and protect the Batang Rajang Riverbank in the Kampung Gelam area, while reducing the risk of erosion that could affect the safety of residents and nearby infrastructure,” he said.

Nanta expressed hope that the works would proceed smoothly and according to schedule so that residents can benefit from the project as soon as possible.
