SELANGOR: Hanis Firdaus Bashir continued Sarawak’s medal-winning run at SUKMA 2026 by clinching gold in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) still rings final.

Sarawak Amateur Gymnastics Association (SAGYMA) president Johnny Tan Seng Hock praised Hanis and his teammates for their strong performances, saying their hard work and determination had produced encouraging results.

“The achievement so far has been really good. Well done to the gymnasts for bringing medals for Sarawak,” he said.

However, Johnny stressed that the team’s campaign was not over yet, with one more target still to be achieved.

“It is not over yet, we still have one more target to reach. Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) for their continued support of the gymnastics team.

“Thank you to MYSED, SSC and MSNS for their support to the gymnastics team. Their support towards us has been great. We can’t achieve what we have without them,” he said.

The support from the three organisations has been crucial to the gymnasts’ preparations and campaign at the Games. With one more target to achieve, Sarawak will look to finish its gymnastics campaign on a high.

Hanis’ victory came as a reward for the hard work, discipline and commitment shown throughout the team’s preparations for SUKMA 2026.

Earlier, in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics all-around final Selangor’s Cadence Teh Zi Qi claimed gold with a total score of 48.550.
