BAU: A dispute over noise turned violent when a local man allegedly pulled out a knife and slashed another man in the face at Kampung Serikin on Saturday (Aug 22).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the incident happened at around 1 pm after the 40-year-old victim confronted the 23-year-old suspect over his alleged habit of making excessive noise.
“The suspect took a knife that was placed at the back of his waist before slashing it towards the complainant, hitting his left cheek.
“The victim suffered a cut to his left cheek and another minor wound to his left wrist while trying to fend off the attack,” he said.
The suspect was understood to have fled after the incident but was arrested by police at about 8.45 pm the same day.
Police also seized a 26cm knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Haide said the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
He advised members of the public not to take matters into their own hands when faced with disagreements, but instead leave such matters to the authorities for further action.
