BAU: The district police are investigating three theft cases reported yesterday (Aug 27).
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the three theft cases occurred at different locations within the district.
The first case took place at Kampung Boka Toya, Sungai Pinang Ulu, at about 5.30 am on Aug 27.
The complainant reported that a water meter placed outside their home was stolen, with an estimated loss of RM100.
This case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
“For the second case, it involved a burglary at an office building on a business premises at Batu 11, Jalan Kuching-Bau (Keranji).
“The incident is believed to have taken place overnight before the complainant realized items were missing at 7.30 am on Aug 27.
“Further inspection revealed that electric cables, armoured cables, a breaker unit, and a vibration motor were stolen,” he said.
Mohd Haide estimated the loss at RM15,095. The office building’s window grilles were damaged, which is believed to be how the suspect gained entry.
This case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the third case took place at Kampung Sega, Siniawan, where cables were stolen from a telecommunications tower, an incident believed to have occurred on Wednesday (Aug 26) at around 11am.
The district police chief noted that several telecommunications cables were damaged and stolen from the premises, with losses estimated at around RM16,000.
“Further inspection revealed that the perimeter fencing was cut, allowing the suspect to gain entry and steal the cables,” said Mohd Haide.
This case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code and Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
