KUCHING: Six religious institutions in the Mambong constituency have received RM2.08 million in allocations from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) for development projects and facility upgrades benefiting local communities.
Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the allocation reflected the Sarawak Government’s commitment to ensuring religious institutions of various faiths continued to receive attention and support.
“The Sarawak Government will continue to pay attention to the needs of communities through various forms of assistance and allocations,” he said when officiating at the UNIFOR Cheque Presentation Ceremony here recently.
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, asserted that the assistance was important to ensure facilities at the institutions remain comfortable, safe and conducive for community use.
The six institutions that receive the allocations are St Andrew Church in Kampung Sitang, St Patrick Church in Kampung Masaan, St Isodore Church in Kampung Bangau, St Patrick’s Chapel in Kampung Semadang, BEM Bethel BRS and St George’s Chapel in Kampung Bawang.
Dr Jerip said continued support for religious institutions was also part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen community wellbeing while fostering harmony and unity among Sarawakians.
