Government to assist families of Long Lellang crash victims

KUCHING: The government will provide all necessary assistance and support to the families of those involved in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash near Long Lellang.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this in a statement posted on Facebook following the incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon (Sept 8).

“The government will provide all necessary assistance and support to the victims’ families, God willing,” he said.

Anwar also expressed his condolences over the incident involving a helicopter carrying four Health Ministry (MOH) healthcare personnel and a pilot.

“My thoughts and prayers, together with Azizah, are with the families of all the victims who are going through such a difficult time. May they be granted strength and fortitude,” he said.

He also urged all parties to give the affected families space and refrain from speculation while awaiting verified information from the authorities.

The helicopter operating the FDS was reported to have crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram yesterday afternoon.
