LIMBANG: The Limbang Civil Defence Force (APM) has intensified monitoring operations in several areas identified as being at risk of flash floods and landslides following unstable weather conditions and light rain in parts of the district.
The monitoring exercise, carried out by the agency’s Charlie Squad, began at approximately 8.23pm on Monday (May 11) and covered several high-risk locations, including Jalan Batu 3, Bukit Mas near the Methodist Church, and Kampung Bukit Kota.
APM Limbang said the proactive measure was undertaken to ensure public safety remains under control while strengthening disaster preparedness efforts in the district.
Inspections at Jalan Batu 3 found water levels to be within normal conditions, with the overall trend indicating a gradual decrease.
Meanwhile, checks at the slopes in Bukit Mas and Kampung Bukit Kota revealed that the soil structure and surrounding terrain remained stable, with no signs of ground movement or landslides that could pose a threat to residents.
Overall, conditions at all monitored locations were reported to be safe and under control.
APM Limbang said it would continue carrying out routine patrols and monitoring activities to ensure its personnel and assets remain at the highest level of readiness in the event of any emergency or natural disaster.
Members of the public have also been advised to remain vigilant and alert to changes in weather conditions in their respective areas.
Any emergency can be reported to APM Limbang via 085-210471 or through the national emergency hotline, MERS 999.
