SIBU: An art exhibition will be among the highlights of the three-day Artisan Collective Market, scheduled to be held at Sibu Heritage Centre from 4 pm to 10 pm on May 8-10.
Visitor’s Information Centre (VIC) Sarawak in its Facebook posting, said other activities for the three-day celebration included cultural performance, live band entertainment, handicraft workshops and varieties of food and drinks stalls.
“We are delighted to welcome everyone to the VIC Sibu Pop-Up Event during the three-day celebration,” the statement read.
VIC added that the 3-day event will be filled with excitement, buoyed by the fascinating cultural performances presented by talented people.
For the art exhibition, it is divided into a dual section under Sacred Ground 1.0 and First Encounter.
The dual exhibitions showcase the gap between traditional study and contemporary original creation.
The Sacred Ground 1.0 features three key artworks of local artist Melissa Shekinah Wong.
Wong’s artworks offer an intimate exploration of Sarawak local terrain, translating the invisible forces of the earth into a tangible, shared experience.
The First Encounter features artwork from the young creators to adults curated by Wong.
“Bring your friends and family and be part of this exciting celebration of culture, creativity and community,” said VIC.
The event is organised by Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) as part its event to mark Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
