KUCHING: Bangladesh has proposed formalising a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sarawak to facilitate the recruitment of workers, particularly to support the state’s development projects.
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, said the proposal was discussed during a courtesy visit with Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, which took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
“At the same time, we also discussed the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers, including both skilled and general workers, for various development projects in Sarawak, particularly in the construction sector and other fields.
“We have proposed to formalise a MoU with Sarawak for the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers,” Manjurul said at a press conference following the courtesy visit at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today (April 15).
Manjurul added that the visit also covered several areas to enhance cooperation, including agriculture, agro-processing, and renewable energy.
He also proposed a MoU for cooperation in agriculture and several other sectors.
