KUCHING: Bank Rakyat is giving a six-month moratorium on financing facility to customers affected by the recent floods in the country.
Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the move taken by Bank Rakyat is to reduce the financial burden of the affected customers, especially those who are also facing financial constraints due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As a caring bank, Bank Rakyat understands the difficulties faced by customers, including individuals and entrepreneurs following this disaster, and especially after the government implemented various levels of movement control orders nationwide recently.
“Therefore, the initiative taken by Bank Rakyat is expected to give a positive impact and help ease the burden that is borne by the community,” he said today.
Earlier, Bank Rakyat announced a special assistance amounting to RM500,000 for flood victims which will be distributed through the bank’s regional offices and branches.
Bank Rakyat’s customers who face difficulties in continuing their financing payments as a result of being affected by this disaster can apply for this moratorium assistance starting Jan 20.
